- I'm certainly not a Modem gurus but I did purchase the same modem.

- The modem is a Best Data 2834F. It is NOT RPI based and requires no support
- software - just your communications software. The only configuration described
- in the owners manual is setting the DIP Switches on the rear panel to the
- appropriate COM port and IRQ.

- What software are you using for your Internet access? NetScape? If so, you
- need to reconfigure the dialer for your new 28.8 modem. This sets up a
- different AT init string.
-
- MAKE SURE the DIP switches are set correctly!!
-
- Are you using Windows 95? If so, someone else has to jump here in since I use
- WFWG 3.11 with no modem problems.
-
- I currently use this modem with 2 different Internet providers (IDT and
- Concentric), America Online, AT&TMail, and a local BBS. Most connects are at
- 26400 - some at 28800. So far it has worked smoothly and error free.
-
- If all else fails, request an exchange as they have a 30 day money back or
- exchange policy.
